Vitamin FAQ
Vitamins, Amino Acids, Minerals and Antioxidants are vital for life but, few people truly understand what nutritional supplements are or what they do inside our bodies. In this section, we will try to answer some of the frequently asked questions about vitamins.
Should I get my vitamins from food or from supplements?
This is a commonly asked question. And…the answer is : It is better to obtain the necessary vitamins from natural foods and our intestinal bacteria. However, many people don’t get enough vitamins, amino acids and minerals in their diets (usually because they don’t have the time or energy to prepare healthy food and instead eat highly-processed foods such as fast food). With the highly processed food we are accustomed to, the pollution of our environment, and the traditional Western cooking methods, it is extremely difficult to maintain optimal health without taking vitamin-enriched foods as well as Amino Acids and Vitamins.
We can try to get the necessary nutrients from food, but it’s almost impossible to get everything we need especially when we may have weakened immune systems, mental stress, and physical pain. Air pollution and lack of sleep can also greatly affect our body’s ability to absorb all of the nutrients we need from our food. Also, most people do not eat the perfectly balanced diet that is rich in low fat proteins, fresh vegetables and fruit.
So, the answer is a resounding, “YES,” we do need to supplement our diets with the purest Amino Acids, Vitamins and Antioxidants if we want to have long lives, heal quickly from wounds, sleep better, and have quality health.
When should I take my vitamins?
Vitamins should be taken with food or within an hour after eating. They can cause discomfort if taken on an empty stomach.
When should I take my amino acids?
Amino Acids are the molecular building blocks of proteins so consuming a food protein at the same time could cause the body to work to digest the food and it could pass through some of the pure l – crystalline amino acid without properly utilizing it. That is why we suggest that taking amino acids is best done at least an hour before consuming protein or at least an hour and a half after. Taking aminos with protein food will not and should not create a negative reaction. It’s just that the body won’t utilize the amino acids as efficiently as it would if the protein food wasn’t present.
How many vitamins should I take?
The answer to this question varies from person to person, so you should consult your physician or professional healthcare practitioner to find out your ideal dosage.
Can you overdose on vitamins?
It’s very hard to overdose on vitamins. You can't overdose in the same way you can overdose on drugs like cocaine or heroin, but that doesn’t mean that more is always better when it comes to vitamins. Usually, if you take more vitamins than your body needs, the excess vitamins are excreted. Certain vitamins, such as vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, niacin and iron can damage the body if the dosage is too high.
Will taking vitamins and or Amino Acids reduce my stress levels?
Yes, they can big a huge difference, especially if you’re using USP Pharmaceutical Grade supplements. Eating healthier and getting exercise can also help to reduce stress. Nutritional Supplementation can be a key part of a lifestyle change that will improve your stress levels. L Tryptophan and Gaba are also helpful in helping to reduce stress.
Are vitamins ever dangerous?
Generally, over-the-counter vitamins (particularly multivitamins) are safe for everyone to take, but there are some people who react negatively to certain vitamins. Consult your doctor immediately if you show any signs of a negative reaction to a vitamin or supplement.
Unfortunately, most of the vitamins sold in health food stores, vitamin shops or on the internet are usually Veterinary Grade or at best…Food Grade. It is of dire importance that the supplements you use come from a reputable manufacturer that provides only USP Pharmaceutical Grade. F.T.H. (From the Heart) Nutraceuticals’ supplements all vastly surpass the criteria necessary to be classified as USP Pharmaceutical grade and many of the supplements provided by F.T.H. are Medical IV Grade in Europe.
Can you really get vitamin D from the sun?
Yes, the body can absorb vitamin D from the sun. However, since many of us spend most of our days indoors and away from the sun, it’s a good idea to take a vitamin D supplement. Vitamin D can also be obtained from foods like milk and fish.`
